La Macarena Meta, Colombia

Chapel of Our Lady of the Macarena
February 26, 2015

Fr. Benedickt Peña, a military chaplain in Colombia, made the devotion to the Lady of All Nations known in a region of Colombia called Macarena – Meta by giving the image and prayer to the soldiers who came to receive the sacraments of the Eucharist or Reconciliation.

He told us, “I believe it is thanks to this prayer, in which the Blessed Virgin Mary teaches us to pray for the Holy Spirit, that a light entered my heart to be able to build a chapel for this military group. The more I passed out the holy cards, the more it appeared possible to realize this plan. I brought holy cards to the military command and to the generals, so that they would pray this prayer for the spiritual health and for peace in our nation, which was also to come through the construction of this new chapel…
The prayers were heard in as much as I was able to present a project for the construction of a new chapel. When the general received the image with the prayer, he said to me positively, that we should construct a church in honor of the Mother of Sorrows so that she can protect us now and forever.”

In this way, the new chapel in the military case of Macarena—Meta, which contains the painting of the Mother of All Nations in a special place, was solemnly consecrated on February 26, 2015 by bishop of the Military Bishopric of Colombia, Mons. Fabio Suescún Mutis.
