Change by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith 2006

Amsterdam, December 2006

Dear Action leaders,
Dear friends of the Lady of All Nations.

In July 2005, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith requested that the words “who once was Mary” be left out of the prayer of the Lady of All Nations out of consideration for those who do not understand this phrase.
We would like once again especially to thank those who immediately complied with these instructions. Through this obedience it was possible, over the past eighteen months, to continue praying and spreading the prayer of the Lady of All Nations which is of such relevance and importance for our times.

In the meantime, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has presented the following version to the responsible bishop of Haarlem-Amsterdam, Msgr. Joseph Maria Punt. In order to make it clear that the title ‘Lady of All Nations’ refers to Our Lady, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith desires the words “the Blessed Virgin Mary” to be added to the prayer. Thus, the end of the prayer is now:

“May the Lady of All Nations,
the Blessed Virgin Mary,
be our Advocate.”

So it is that we ask you once again to accept and support this additional alteration, as it is only in this way that this powerful prayer can again be spread worldwide, translated and prayed in unison – and this even with the express consent of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and in union with our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.

We would like sincerely to thank you for your love for the Lady and Mother of All Nations and for your zeal for the “Worldwide Action” which she herself desired. The spreading of her image and her prayer with its urgent plea for the coming of the Holy Spirit into “the hearts of all nations” and for the preservation “from degeneration, disaster and war”, is more relevant and necessary than ever before.
